“MSNBC To 30 Rock” Rumors Continue

> Update: 5:49pm: An e-mailer asks: “How do you save money by moving from the middle of New Jersey to the middle of Manhattan? I would assume there would have to be a big scale-back…”

> Update: 5:40pm: “There is also talk in Englewood Cliffs of MS moving in and the two stations living under one roof,” an e-mailer says. A second person says there’s plenty of space in the building…

Back in June, the New York Times mentioned rumors that “NBC is considering shutting down the MSNBC site in Secaucus and housing MSNBC in Manhattan.” At the time, Steve Capus said “closing Secaucus, if we get to that point, is a long way down the road.”

But the rumors continue, unabated. Talk about “MSNBC to 30 Rock” seems to be swirling in Secaucus (and Engelwood Cliffs). “Sshhhh. Look for NBC News to close down the entire MSNBC operation in Secaucus and move it to Rock Center to save money,” a tipster said last week. And yesterday, an NBC tipster said MSNBC may not renew its ten year lease in Secaucus.

I hear NBC hasn’t made a decision yet, but the move is certainly under consideration. Stay tuned…
