MSNBC Producer Fills In The Blanks During Breaking News

By Chris Ariens

During breaking news of a suspicious find in the East River on Friday, an MSNBC producer jumped in to the control room to provide details that hadn’t been known to the network at that point. Court Harson is an NJ-based senior producer for Hardball with Chris Matthews. The NYPD was trying to determine just what was in the water, precariously close to the world’s largest cruise ship, the Queen Mary II, docked in Brooklyn. Harson got on the ‘producer interrupt’ mic (which MSNBC has been using for about a year).

He told anchor Alex Witt, “an artist in Brooklyn, Duke Riley, is doing a fake documentary and they are filming in Red Hook today.” Harson went on to show Riley’s website and tell viewers “nothing nefarious” was going on.
