Last week’s morning show ratings race followed a familiar pattern: ABC delivered the most total viewers, NBC was No. 1 among adults 25-54, and all three (ABC, NBC and CBS) were down from the same week in 2018.
GMA was not only the most-watched morning show last week, but season to date, it is the No. 1 morning newscast in total viewers for the 7th consecutive year after finishing as the No. 1 morning newscast for the last six seasons.
Today show’s performance among adults 25-54 (1.02 million) marks 186 consecutive weeks in first place. No other morning news show has been No. 1 in the demo for as long a streak. The NBC morning show also won in total viewers last Tuesday and Thursday.
CBS This Morning significantly closed the gap with its competition from a year ago, as you’ll see below.
Compared with the same week one year ago, GMA was -6% total viewers, while Today show was -2% in total viewers, and CBS This Morning was only -1%. In the A25-54 demo, GMA was -12%, Today was -11% and CBS This Morning was again only -1% vs. the week of July 16, 2018.
