As was the case with its evening news counterparts, the ABC and NBC morning shows battled to a split decision in last week’s ratings race.

With its performance during the week of Dec. 17, Good Morning America marked back-to-back weeks as the No. 1 morning show in total viewers. Season to-date, the ABC broadcast is No. 1 in total viewers for the 7th conscutive year.

GMA beat Today by just +2,000 total viewers, and relative to the week of Dec. 18, 2017, the show was -5 percent in total viewers and -11 percent among adults 25-54.

NBC’s Today marked three consecutive years as the No. 1 morning show among adults 25-54, topping its ABC and CBS competition for 156 consecutive weeks in the measurement. In addition to winning the week in the demo, the NBC morning show also won in total viewers last Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Versus the comparable week in 2017, Today was -6 percent in total viewers, and -8 percent among adults 25-54.

CBS This Morning remains in ratings free fall. The broadcast was -14 percent in total viewers, and -12 percent among adults 25-54 vs. the comparable week last year.

*Editor’s note: On Friday (12/21/18), GMA was re-titled as “Good Morning Amer” and excluded from the weekly averages. ABC’s and CBS’ averages are based on 4 days (Mon-Thu). NBC’s Today, on the other hand, counted its Friday broadcast.
