Miller Thanks Dobbs For Encouragement

By Brian

I figured Judith Miller granted her first broadcast interview to Lou Dobbs because of his daily updates about her situation, and it looks like I was right. Here’s what she told Lou on last night’s program:
“…By the way, that your clock, your ‘Judith Miller has been in jail for X number of days,’ gave me a lot of encouragement at the end of some very long and depressing and challenging days. And I want to thank you for it, and CNN for standing up for journalist principle and the right of confidentiality.”
Dobbs referenced Jon Klein and Jim Walton and said “we couldn’t ask for more support…”

> Also: “Dobbs had almost singlehandedly kept Miller’s case in the public eye every weeknight since her incarceration,” Paul Gough says.

> From FishbowlDC: “While CNN had touted the Miller interview as the first broadcast interview with the embattled reporter, ABC News taped an afternoon interview with Barbara Walters and managed to sneak a clip of it on the air at 6:39 p.m. during World News Tonight, just one minute before CNN’s interview began.”
