“Mikey” Emanuel’s Embarrassing Moment

By Brian

We all know Super Stretch (Bill Sammon), Stretch/Little Stretch (David Gregory), and Factor (Bill O’Reilly). But FNC’s national security correspondent Mike Emanuel was one of the first reporters to earn a nickname from George W. Bush, according to Hotline. In the Friday Feature, Emanuel told this story about an embarrassing on-the-job moment:

“Election Night 1998 in Austin, TX. I secured an exclusive interview with then-Governor George W. Bush. In the interview, Gov. Bush called me ‘Mikey.’ I covered his 1994 campaign for Governor, and his early years in that job. I intro the interview, then toss back to Brit Hume, and Brit grilled me in a nice way on the ‘Mikey’ nickname. I thought I was going to die.”
