Midterms: Klein Must Be Giddy About CNN’s Election Night “Triumph Over FNC”

By Brian

“CNN President Jonathan Klein must be as giddy as House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi over his network’s rare triumph over Fox News Channel in the key 25-54 news demo and its finish just a sliver behind in total viewers,” J. Max Robins writes.

He notes that “Fox News tried to spin CNN’s performance as evidence of the rival network’s liberal bias,” but he disagrees: “CNN’s coverage was simply more energetic and comprehensive than its competition, and the Nielsens reflect that.”

CNN took out a full-page ad in today’s New York Times to declare itself “#1 on Election Night.” CNN had “more viewers than any cable network, more key P25-54 viewers than any cable network,” and “the highest share of online news,” the ad says.

Robins counts CNN, ABC News, and right-wing pundits as “winners” of election coverage, and Fox News, MSNBC, and CBS as “losers…”
