ABC News announced in the spring that it would be adding a third hour of Good Morning America to its schedule. The network confirmed this morning that the third hour now has a name, a premiere date, and permanent co-hosts.

GMA co-host Michael Strahan and The View co-host Sara Haines will co-host GMA Day, the third hour of GMA which will air weekdays at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT/PT.

GMA Day will be live to tape at 9 a.m. ET, and debuts on Monday, Sept. 10.

Strahan will continue to co-host the flagship 7-9 a.m. edition of GMA, but Haines will be leaving The View at the end of the season. She is the second cast member to depart the ABC News daytime program over the past week. Paula Faris is leaving The View (and her GMA weekend duties) for a new assignment that includes contributing breaking news reports across ABC News programming as well as developing a podcast on faith.

The GMA third hour replaces the cancelled culinary program The Chew in the 1 p.m. ET hour. Live with Kelly & Ryan will continue to air after the flagship 7-9 a.m. edition of GMA.

“I never thought in a million years I would be leaving one dream job for another dream job,” Haines said on The View this morning.
