Megyn Kelly Day One Ratings Are Down Compared to Last Year

By Chris Ariens

Nielsen fast affiliate ratings are in for the debut of Megyn Kelly Today. The show drew 2.932 million total viewers and 917,000 in the A25-54 demo.

Compared to the same Monday last year, Sept. 26, 2016, which happened to be the day of the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the ratings are down.

Kelly’s show was down -4 percent in Households, down -11 percent in the A25-54 demo and, most troubling, down -15 percent in the women 25-54 demo.

But the show is up in a week-to-week comparison. MKT is up +12 percent in viewers (+324,000) and up +7 percent in the A25-54 demo viewers (+64,000) vs. Monday Sept. 18.

Kelly’s show replaced Today’s Take, the third hour of the long-running NBC News franchise that was hosted by Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones.

It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison, but at the peak of her Fox News prime time show, Kelly averaged about 2.5 million total viewers and 509,000 in the demo.
