"Mean" Gene Impressed With Bart Scott's Mic Skills

By Marcus Vanderberg

When linebacker Bart Scott retires from the NFL, he might want to look into a role with World Wrestling Entertainment.

After his promo-esque speech with Sal Paolantonio, legendary WWE announcer “Mean” Gene Okerlund was high on Scott’s microphone skills.

“On a scale of one to 10, I would give him an eight,” Okerlund told Steve Politi of The Star-Ledger. “A good interview has to create emotion. You can do that through love or hate, or just by entertaining people, and he does that.”

Scott explained that Hulk Hogan was his role model, which explains why he knocked the postgame speech out of the park.

“It wasn’t the fact that Hulk Hogan was a wrestler,” Scott said. “He was a trendsetter, no different than Ali, Babe Ruth. He worked at being the best. He entertained you, no matter what.”

Whatcha gonna do brother when Bart Scott and the New York Jets defense runs wild on the Pittsburgh Steelers?
