McManus: Dozier “Lived For This Story”

By Brian

CBS News president Sean McManus was awakened at 5:30 a.m. Monday with the news that Paul Douglas and James Brolan had been killed in Iraq.

Douglas and Brolan “are the unsung heroes who don’t get on TV, but they are in as much danger as reporters and their support is crucial,” McManus tells USA Today. “When they meet this kind of tragedy, it’s a wake-up call about how many people we don’t see are risking their lives.”

As for correspondent Kimberly Dozier, McManus says whenever she “was leaving Iraq, the first thing she’d say is ‘When can I go back?’ She lived for this story.”
