Matt Lauer Tees Off To Raise Funds For Hospice

The Palm Beach Daily News has an interview of NBC’s Matt Lauer, in Florida this weekend for a day of fundraising in honor of his late father.

Lauer hosted the 10th annual Jay Robert Lauer Golf Tournament and the Ermenegildo Zegna Evening at The Breakers Hotel, both fundraisers for the Hospice of Palm Beach County. The Hospice had assisted Jay Robert Lauer in 1997, as he spent his last months battling cancer.

“(Matt) Lauer,” reporter Margie Kacoha writes, “said his father, a bicycle company executive, was well rounded and level headed. The elder Lauer always provided the sense of an emotional safety net, he said. ‘All I had to do was just pick up the phone.'”

The tournament, Lauer says, “helps” with his grief. “It definitely helps.”
