Mary Mapes‘ tell-all is coming soon. “Truth and Duty: The Press, the President and the Privilege of Power,” written by the former CBSer who produced the infamous MemoGate segment, is scheduled to be released Nov. 8. It’s being published by St. Martin’s Press. “The 384-page, first-person account will detail Mapes’ role in the story, which raised questions about whether Bush fulfilled his Vietnam-era service,” Matea Gold recaps.

In an excerpt posted on, Mapes writes that she was “shocked at the ferocity of the attack” on the piece and “terrified at CBS’ lack of preparedness in defending us…”
