Hours after attending the second inauguration for his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo lost his father, former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo. Mario Cuomo, 82, died at home early this evening of natural causes brought on by heart failure.
CNN’s digital alert cited the “New Day” anchor as the source of the news. CNN on cable broke in to “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” at 8:18pm with Jim Scuitto anchoring a special report. Al Jazeera America, which was in live programming, reported the news at 8:20pm.
Fox News broke into the special “The Man who Killed Osama Bin Laden,” with the news at 8:26pm. MSNBC, which was airing a “Lockup” marathon, broke in with the news at 8:44pm.
