Malhotra Becomes EP Of ABC’s Weekend News; Reiter Becomes Senior Prod.

Vinnie Malhotra is the new executive producer of ABC News’ weekend news content, David Westin announced today.

Malhotra will be responsible for World News Saturday and World News Sunday. “He will also serve as a senior producer of World News with Charles Gibson.” He replaces Chris Sheridan, who was named EP of ABCNews.com on June 6.

Malhotra was Peter Jennings‘ producer from 2002 to 2005. He was the ABC News producer in the convoy when Bob Woodruff and Doug Vogt were hit by an IED in Iraq in January 2006. He was an anchor producer until June 2006, when he became a senior producer on Nightline.

Also, David Reiter will be joining Malhotra as senior broadcast producer of weekend news. He will continue his work at ABC’s Special Events Unit with the new title of senior broadcast producer. Reiter has been instrumental at Special Events and with many of the news division’s defining projects, including “Where Things Stand.”
