Paul Kangas, the longtime host of the Nightly Business Report on PBS, has died. Kangas, 79, was host of the Miami-based business show from 1979 to 2009.
The following year, in 2010, Miami PBS station WPBT sold the show to a private equity group, which in turn sold the show to CNBC in 2013. Production moved from Miami to CNBC’s headquarters and has been hosted by Sue Herera since Jan. 2015.
Kangas, a Michigan native died Tuesday. In her obituary, which aired on the show Wednesday, Herera said “Kangas was business news, before business news was cool on TV.”
