At 12:46pm, every network reported that the indictments had been handed down.

“We now have official word that Lewis Libby, Lewis Scooter Libby, has been indicted,” Wolf Blitzer said. NBC’s Pete Williams: “It’s 5 counts against Scooter Libby.”

“It is a surprise,” Judge Andrew Napolitano said on FNC. “We were expecting a single count indictment on perjury, now we have obstruction of justice.” Bill Hemmer then paused to allow Fox affiliates to join the broadcast.

On ABC, the cameraman zoomed in on the indictments as correspondent Jonathan Karl flipped through the pages. “It’s the cover up, not the crime,” Terry Moran said. “The old rule of Washington scandal seems to apply here as well.”
