MSNBC may have to look for another host for its 8pmET timeslot in a couple years. Lawrence O’Donnell who took over the time period in January, tells DailyBeast’s Howard Kurtz that appearing on cable “was a hobby.”
“It never occupied more than a few percent of my brain, except when I was doing it live,” the former writer, co-producer and later executive producer of “The West Wing” says.
O’Donnell has been a commentator on MSNBC since its earliest days. Last summer, the network added him to its left-leaning primetime.
Screenwriting is my business; this thing was always a sideline. I can’t look up and imagine myself doing this for three years… I’m just filled with dissatisfaction about what we can squeeze into script form. It’s always my fault. I’m a very slow writer.”
