NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams was #1 in all categories for the week of Dec. 12, 2005. “For seven straight weeks, the Williams-led newscast has outperformed the ABC team of Elizabeth Vargas and Bob Woodruff by over one million viewers,” NBC says. Nightly News averaged 9,985,000, ABC averaged 8,591,000 and CBS averaged 7,871,000. NBC averaged a 2.6 in the 25-54 demo, while ABC had a 2.4 and CBS had a 2.1.
> CBS says: “The CBS Evening News is the only network evening newscast to post gains for the week of Dec. 12, as well as season-to-date, in total viewers and households. For the week, the CBS broadcast has narrowed the gap with ABC by 1.59 million viewers compared to the same period last year.”
