Last Week’s Evening News Ratings

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams “was the No. 1 network evening newscast, winning the week of July 4 — 8 in total viewers, homes and among women, men and adults 25-54,” NBC’s press release says. NN averaged 8,709,000 viewers, 6% more than WNT’s 8,178,000 and 29% more than CBS’s 6,764,000.

“On Thursday, July 7, the evening of the terrorist attacks in London, ‘Nightly News’ demonstrated once again that when a big story breaks, viewers turn to the NBC newscast in large numbers. That evening, the Williams-led broadcast attracted 9.771 million viewers, a staggering 1.3 million viewer advantage over ABC’s 8.474 million. CBS posted 6.868 million.”
