Larry King‘s not buying the story advanced by Donald Trump‘s campaign manager, that Trump did not know an interview he did with King Thursday night was for RT, the Russian government-backed news channel.
Friday morning Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Trump believed he was doing King’s podcast. “No one said it was going to be on Russian TV,” Conway said Friday morning on CNN.
In an interview Friday evening with CNN’s Erin Burnett, Larry King said his producers never said the interview was for the podcast, which Trump had appeared on recently. “If Donald said he thought it was a podcast that stretches it a little because he just did my podcast,” King said. “I did not make the arrangements for him to be on the show. My producers talked to his people, and they made the arrangements. So I never know what was said to him except he was doing my TV show.”
King noted that RT is just one of the channels that distributes King’s “Politicking” show, and said content of the show has never been influenced by the Kremlin. Burnett did ask about the abrupt end to the Trump interview, and King said Trump’s staff apologized for cutting the interview short and promised to appear on the King show again next week.
