Kim Godwin Becomes Senior Producer For CBS Evening News

Rick Kaplan has named Kim Godwin the senior producer in charge of all domestic coverage for the CBS Evening News.

Godwin starts on April 16. “Most recently, Godwin was the Assistant News Director for WCBS-TV, the CBS Owned station in New York (2005-07), where she oversaw all day-to-day editorial direction and newscast production, as well as special projects.”

She came to WCBS after spending two years at Florida A&M as a journalism faculty member and director. Before then, she was the VP and news director for KNBC in LA. Click continued for her full bio…






“Most recently, Godwin was the Assistant News Director for WCBS-TV, the CBS Owned station in New York (2005-07), where she oversaw all day-to-day editorial direction and newscast production, as well as special projects. Before that, she was Interim Director of the journalism division of the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla. (2004-05). Godwin also served as an adjunct faculty member at Florida A&M University (2003-04). Previously, she was Vice President and News Director for KNBC-TV Los Angeles (2001-03) and Vice President of News Operations for the NBC Television Stations Group in Atlanta and New York (2001).


Godwin has held numerous management, producer and reporter positions in broadcast television, including Vice President and News Director, KXAS-TV Dallas/Fort Worth (1998-2001); News Director, WOIO-TV and WUAB-TV Cleveland (1996-98); Assistant News Director, WCAU-TV Philadelphia (1994-96); Executive Producer, WNBC-TV New York (1993-94); Senior News Producer, WCAU-TV Philadelphia (1991-93); News Producer, WTAE-TV Pittsburgh (1991); Anchor, Investigative Reporter and Producer, WPTV-TV West Palm Beach, Fla. (1986-1991); and Executive Producer, WTXL-TV Tallahassee (1984-86). Godwin began her career in radio as a news writer for WTNT-AM (1983-84) and a disc jockey and news anchor for WAMF-AM (1982-83), both in Tallahassee.


She was born in Panama City, Fla. and grew up in New York City. Godwin was graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M University in 1984. She graduated from Bayside High School in Bayside, Queens.”
