Katie Left, But Viewers Didn’t

“If there was any fear” that Katie Couric‘s departure from Today “would immediately threaten NBC’s profitable dominance in the morning, the initial numbers put that to rest,” the AP reports.

“Today beat second-place Good Morning America of ABC by an average of 1.3 million viewers in the two weeks following Couric’s last show on May 31, according to Nielsen Media Research. The NBC show’s margin of victory (5.85 million to 4.92 million) was tighter during Couric’s last full week on the air.”

ABC says the gap narrowed toward the end of last week; the full numbers will be out today…
