July ’10 Ratings: Robin Meade Continues Morning Growth for HLN

The lead for CNN’s release this month is “Morning Express with Robin Meade” posting its 16th consecutive monthly demo victory over MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The July 2010 averages:

Total day (Mon-Sun): 285k total/125K A25-54
Prime (Mon-Sun): 452k total/145K A25-54

Continuing another trend, “Morning Express” (310k total/ 166k demo) was again one of the few programs to show year-to-year growth — up +11% in total viewers and +20% in the demo — the most of any cable news program. The program, which has consistently been a bright spot for CNN/HLN, was #2 in the demo behind “Fox & Friends” for the month, but #4 in total viewers.

Meanwhile, HLN’s primetime is down year-to-year, -20% in total viewers and -36% in the demo. “Nancy Grace” (688k/217k) was #3 and ahead of CNN’s “Campbell Brown” at 8pmET. “Joy Behar” (521k/139k), which had the largest growth of any cable news program in Q2, was down, particularly in the demo, compared to last July.

HLN’s Morning Express with Robin Meade Beats MSNBC’s Morning Joe for 16th Consecutive Month in July

In July, HLN’s morning show, Morning Express with Robin Meade topped MSNBC’s Morning Joe for the 16th consecutive month among 25-54 viewers. Morning Express beat Morning Joe by nearly 50% among 25-54 viewers (166k vs. 113k). Year-to-date, Morning Express has a 61% lead over Morning Joe (180k vs. 112k).

Also in July, Morning Express was the only show in cable news to increase double digits in both total viewers and the 25-54 demo compared to a year ago, up 11% among total viewers (3101k vs. 271k) and up 20% among 25-54 viewers (166k vs. 138k)
