Judy Woodruff Becomes Senior Correspondent For The NewsHour

Before moving to CNN, Judy Woodruff spent ten years at The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour as the chief Washington correspondent. Now she’s coming home, as a senior correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, effective Feb. 5.

She will “lead in-studio discussions, report from the field and conduct interviews for The NewsHour, as well as serve as a back-up anchor to Jim Lehrer,” according to the press release. She’ll also serve as editor of The NewsHour’s 2008 political coverage.

“Thomas Wolfe is wrong,” Woodruff says in the release. “I am going home — to The NewsHour — where I spent ten fabulous years. I’m thrilled to be rejoining Jim and the rest of this great team, which has a unique commitment to high-quality journalism.”
