In an interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush said he’s ready for next week’s GOP debate, even if it means facing a frontrunner in the form of Donald Trump. “I’m a big boy,” he said. “I’ll be showing up with my big boy pants on.”
Bush, who trails Trump in national polls but seems assured of a spot in the top-tier prime time debate August 6 on Fox News, said Trump’s message has hit a chord with voters. “I was surprised that Donald Trump has surged. I think he’s captured the deep frustration that people feel.”
The extended interview will air on Saturday’s Today and NBC Nightly News and on Meet the Press Sunday.
