NBCUniversal and the State of Connecticut have officially announced that the NBC Sports Group will relocate to Stamford, Connecticut, in a building that used to house a Clairol factory. Construction has not yet started on the new site, so the earliest the move could take place will be 2013. NBCU will receive tax credits, as well as a $20 million loan in exchange for moving to Stamford.
In return, Connecticut gets to add a substantial presence from one of the world’s largest media companies… and the hundreds of jobs that come with it. As we noted last week, NBCU already has a presence in the state, which is also home to ESPN and the WWE.
The Connecticut Post has more on the move.
