How This Former ‘Married With Children’ Writer Became ESPN’s Fantasy Sports Expert

By Brian Flood

Matthew¬†Berry had a unique path to success, ultimately becoming a trailblazer for the now booming fantasy sports industry. ESPN’s senior fantasy sports analyst started his career as a writer for the iconic sitcom Married With Children and landed a gig covering fantasy sports because, he says, the company¬†looked him up on IMDb.

Berry took an unpaid job writing about fantasy sports on the Internet in 1999 and 16 years later is the author of a New York Times best-seller, Fantasy Life. He appears regularly on a variety of ESPN programs and hosts a popular podcast called Fantasy Focus. Berry said it isn’t his dream job because “when I was dreaming of jobs, it didn’t exist.”
