How Much News Breaks Between 6 & 9?

MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann reacts to today’s posts about World News Tonight’s Western Edition:

“I hate to burst anybody’s bubble about the west coast feed of WNT. As a 10-year Angeleno nothing drove me crazier than when the morning shows would go to an LA guest or reporter standing in the pitch dark. And I’m sure the feed allows a useful customization for the Pacific Time audience. But we’ve been doing an hour-long newscast for nearly three years now that repeats at 9 PM Pacific and the number of times we’ve had to update anything nationally averages out at less than once every three months. Either ABC will drop the idea, or the standby anchor will drop from exhaustion, long before CBS and NBC emulate the idea.”
