Libyan Crisis Resurrects Name Game

Yes, we’ve been through this before. But let’s do it again. As foment turned to rage in Libyan cities and towns, the nation’s leader for nearly 42 years has remained defiant and today went on Libyan state TV as he tries to cling to power amid the Arab revolutionary wave. Just before 11amET, the U.S. cable news networks carried live coverage of the Colonel’s speech, which reminded us again that CNN, Fox News and MSNBC all spell his name differently.

The GroundUp blog writes today that there are actually 37 Latin alphabet transliterations of his name. They even have a poll on which one you would use.
