How ABC’s ‘What Would You Do?’ Restored John Quiñones ‘Faith in Humanity’

QuinonesWWYDWe’ve all had those moments where we’re internally torn when observing others doing heinous things next to us. ‘Should I mind my own business or do something?’ you ask yourself.

For ABC’s “What Would You Do?” host John Quiñones, seeing more people choose the latter has lifted his spirits.

“My faith in humanity is restored in every one of our scenarios,” Quiñones told TVNewser in an interview earlier this week ahead of the hidden-camera show’s return to ABC  tonight at 9pmET.

“There may be folks who don’t want to get involved, but in every scenario, someone steps in at the end, and does something heroic, not because they’re going to be on television (they have no idea), but because their heart tells them it’s the right thing to do.” (One of those brave people was this author’s aunt, who during a “WWYD?” scenario two years ago, took on a cheating husband who was purchasing jewelry for his both wife and girlfriend at my parents’ Long Island jewelry store.)

As we spoke with Quiñones, “WWYD?” was filming another scene where people do right: intervening as a son yells at his elderly mother for getting lost at the market. “People have taken so much time explaining things to her, staying with her regardless of their own schedules.”

Other controversial scenarios this season include a gay athlete being tormented by his teammates, parents who are about to drive their boat, under the influence, with their child, and tonight a cameo appearance tonight by “Shark Tank” entrepreneur Daymond John, playing the role of a hooded-sweathshirt-wearing man being racially profiled by a salesperson;

Danielle Rossen, wife of NBC News investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen, is once again behind this season of “What Would You Do?,” serving as Executive Producer.
