Hillary and Rudy (Really) and Brian and Tim (Sort Of)

SNL opened with a sketch about her, then the real Hillary Clinton appeared Live from New York, even delivering the signature line.

Tonight’s show began much like last week’s, with a send-up of a Democratic primary debate. Last week it was Kristin Wiig playing CNN’s Campbell Brown, tonight it was Will Forte as Brian Williams and Darrell Hammond as Tim Russert.

After the faux debate, the real Hillary Clinton delivered an SNL “editorial response” and was joined by her impersonator, Amy Poehler. Clinton got off the best line with a self-deprecating response to Poehler’s question about how her campaign was going. “The campaign is going very well. Very, Very well…Why? What have you heard?” asked Clinton.

But Sen. Clinton wasn’t the only candidate to make a cameo. Rudy Giuliani played himself during Weekend Update, blaming his early drop-out from the GOP nomination not on his Florida strategy but on the fact he wore a dress during a 1997 SNL appearance. “The Florida plan was solid, I stand by that,” he said jokingly to Seth Meyers.
