Here’s a Short List of This Weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner Events

As President Trump leaves Washington, D.C. this weekend for a rally in Washington, Michigan, hundreds of people will descend on the Nation’s Capital for the White House Correspondents dinner and the growing list of events around the annual gathering.

A.J. will be in D.C. to cover this weekend’s events. Here’s the list so far:

Thursday, April 26:

The 5th Annual Washington Women in Journalism Awards brings together Washington influencers and media to celebrate four award winners including Voice of America’s Amanda Bennett, Amy Walter of The Cook Political Report, Audie Cornish of NPR and Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Friday, April 27:

Yahoo News editor in chief Daniel Klaidman and chief investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff host a special live video taping of their podcast Skullduggery. The episode will include an interview with Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), and a roundtable with New Yorker writer Susan Glasser, Washington Examiner’s Byron York, and CNN’s Jim Scuitto. The taping will be held at the Knight Studio at the Newseum beginning at 8 a.m.

In the evening is the White House Correspondents Jam, hosted by Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell and emceed by Fox News (and former Much Music VJ) John Roberts. Acts performing include Lester Holt‘s band The Rough Cuts, Kevin Bacon‘s group The Bacon Brothers and Shark Tank co-host Kevin O’Leary‘s group The Mooncussers.

Creative Artists Agency is also hosting a Kickoff Cocktails at Brothers & Sisters Bar Friday evening.

CRAFT is throwing Friday night at the British Ambassador’s Residence hosted by British Ambassador Sir Kim Darroch and Lady Darroch. Among the attendees White House comms staffers, past and present, Kellyanne Conway, Anthony Scaramucci and Sean Spicer. DJ Skribble will perform.

Saturday, April 28:

The 25th Annual Garden Brunch, honoring military veterans and their families, will be held at the Beall-Washington House starting at 11 a.m.

The big event, the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, takes place at the Washington Hilton in the evening.

The Young Turks will have a Preamble Party at the Hepburn, adjacent to the Hilton, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Midway through the dinner, Playboy hosts a No Tie Party, what they call “a wink and nod to the culture and politics of Washington D.C.” The event his hosted by Cooper Hefner starting at 9:30 p.m. at Living Room D.C.

The NBC News/MSNBC after party gets going at 11:30 p.m. at the Art Museum of the Americas.

Sunday, April 29:

CNN will host its Political Hangover brunch Sunday morning at the Longview Gallery.

Elena and Robert Allbritton host their annual Sunday brunch at their home. Allbritton is the CEO of Capital News Company, owner of Politico.
