Here Are the Cable News Morning Show Ratings for July 2018

TVNewser has received a number of emails lately asking for a break down of cable news morning show ratings, specifically for 6-9 a.m. ET shows.

Ask, and you shall receive. At least for the month of July. Will we do more of these? That remains to be seen.

Hosted by Ainsley Earhardt, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, Fox & Friends finished July as the No. 1 cable news morning program in total viewers for the 201st straight month, averaging 1.46 million total viewers. Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, that’s actually -2 percent vs. the program’s July 2017 live-plus-same-day delivery (1.49 million). Fox & Friends was also -10 percent among adults 25-54 this past month vs. the previous July (301,000 vs. 333,000).

Hosted by Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist, MSNBC’s Morning Joe ranked No. 2 across the board for the month of July. The broadcast averaged 1.04 million total viewers, which is -1 percent from its July 2017 delivery (1.05 million). Similar to Fox & Friends, Morning Joe lost significantly more traction vs. 2017 among adults 25-54. The program was -13 percent in the demo this past month vs. July 2017 (216,000 vs. 247,000).

Hosted by Alisyn Camerota and John Berman, CNN’s New Day struggled in July 2018 relative to July 2017. The program averaged 504,000 total viewers, which is -13 percent vs. its July 2017 average (580,00o). The program was down even more in the demo, averaging 154,000 viewers (-25 percent vs. July 2017).
