Grayson Leaves CBS Early For NBC Nightly

NBC News has named Aurelia Grayson senior broadcast producer at the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.

Grayson joins NBC from CBS News, where she has been senior supervising producer and broadcast producer of The Early Show since April 2006. She begins in her new role immediately, assisting EP Bob Epstein with all aspects of the program.

“I have known Aurelia for twenty years. She’s a great journalist and producer, who has done every job there is in the newsroom during her career thus far,” said Williams in the release. “We’ve been apart for far too long — it’s about time we were colleagues and not competitors.”

Aurelia Grayson has been named senior broadcast producer of NBC News “Nightly News with Brian Williams,” it was announced today by “Nightly News” executive producer Bob Epstein. Grayson, whose appointment is effective immediately, will assist Epstein with all aspects of the number-one rated evening news program.
“Aurelia is a welcome addition to our team,” said Epstein. “Her experience and contributions to the news industry over the years, and her understanding of live television and breaking news events will enhance ‘Nightly’ both on-air and behind-the-scenes.”

Grayson comes to NBC News from CBS News where she’s been a senior supervising producer and broadcast producer of “The Early Show” since April 2006. Prior to that she was a producer, copy editor and writer at the broadcast for six years, working on such breaking news events as Hurricane Katrina, the war in Iraq, September 11 and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. Grayson’s first position at CBS was with “CBS This Morning” as a broadcast producer from August 1995 – 1999, covering the crash of TWA Flight 800 and the historic visit of Pope John Paul II to Cuba.
Before joining CBS, Grayson worked at WCBS-TV, where she was a producer for Brian Williams. She was involved in coverage of the Gulf War, the 1987 stock market collapse, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and produced a series of reports from South Africa on Nelson Mandela. She also produced an award-winning series for WABC-NY, was an associate producer at WKYC-Cleveland, and produced special projects for Sunburst Creative Group and Blue Moon Media.
Grayson has been the recipient of two Emmy Awards and two Associated Press Awards. She is a member of the NABJ.
Grayson graduated from Boston University. She resides in New Jersey with her husband and three children.
Bob Epstein is the executive producer of “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.”
