Fusion, the joint venture between ABC and Univision, will host its first presidential candidate event when it broadcasts the Iowa Brown and Black Presidential Forum on Jan. 11.
The event will focus on where the candidates stand on issues that matter to America’s growing multicultural population. The Forum, on TV and online, will be held in Des Moines three weeks before Iowans gather for their caucuses. Moderators will be announced at a later date. Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley have both accepted. An invitation is out to Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“Fusion’s goal over the next year is to cover the issues that affect and matter to the diverse generation inheriting the future of this country,” said network CEO Isaac Lee. “This forum will provide a great vehicle to have meaningful conversations with several Presidential candidates that will get to the heart of those issues.”
The Iowa Brown & Black Presidential Forum is the nation’s only presidential forum in which all candidates have the opportunity to answer essential concerns of African-Americans and Latinos. The non-partisan event began in 1984 and has figured prominently in the Iowa caucuses.
MSNBC also hosted a Democratic candidate forum earlier this month.
