Frank Underwood Lands CNN Docu-Series… Sort of

Kevin Spacey, who plays President Frank Underwood on the Netflix political drama “House of Cards,” is teaming up with CNN for a six-part mini docu-series. The Original Series is currently titled, “Race for the White House,” and will focus on prominent election campaigns from the past.

The mini-series will be produced by Spacey and Dana Brunetti, and co-produced by Raw and Trigger Street Productions. Spacey will narrate stories about six presidential hopefuls, using previously unseen archive footage, interviews and dramatic recreations.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti bring their world-class talent to CNN,” said Jeff Zucker, president of CNN Worldwide. “When we created the CNN Original Series brand, this is exactly the type of programming we had in mind and ‘Race for the White House’ will be the perfect complement to our coverage of the 2016 campaigns and election.”

If anyone knows what it takes to become the most powerful person in the world, it’s Spacey. The Oscar-winning actor’s portrayal of the diabolical POTUS Underwood resulted in a 2015 Golden Globe award for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.”
