Fox News Inks New Deal With Greta Van Susteren

By Alex Weprin

Fox News has signed a multi-year contract extension with its 10 p.m. anchor, Greta Van Susteren, The New York TimesBrian Stelter reports.

10 p.m. on Fox News has been the subject of much speculation over the past few months, with observers and reporters throwing out a number of names, from Glenn Beck to Megyn Kelly, who could be in line to take over the slot when Van Susteren leaves.

The news, which Stelter says gives FNC’s “prime time line-up an added measure of stability,” comes the same day that MSNBC announced that it would add Lawrence O’Donnell to its lineup at 10 p.m.

Update: Greta weighs in on the news on her blog:

I just got an email from blogger Alec Wasserman who says he read that I have signed a new contract with Fox News Channel. Well…no surprise, is it? ON THE RECORD at 10pm has been #1 for 8 1/2 straight years….do you really think anyone would change anything? Why would I and why would Fox? It has worked for both of us.
