Former Nightly EP To Play Hardball?

By Chris Ariens

A TVNewser insider tells us former NBC Nightly News executive producer John Reiss may take over EP duties for Hardball with Chris Matthews. The insider says Reiss is on the short list for “Hardball and MSNBC politics.” But the insider continues, “it’s not a done deal.”

Reiss left Nightly in March, replaced by NBC News VP Alexandra Wallace. The Hardball job has been vacant since August when Tammy Haddad gave up the EP title to concentrate on broad political coverage for MSNBC, including the Super Tuesday series.
