In one of the strongest statements in support for Brian Williams to date, former NBC Universal chairman Bob Wright has told the New York Post he believes “the substance” of what Williams has talked about has been true, and Wright hopes to see Williams back at work in short order:
“Nobody wants to see NBC News damaged and if [news division brass] really had some issues, they should have confronted him at an appropriate time,” Wright told The Post on Monday.
“I’m a little surprised,” the 71-year-old executive said. “If you read that everyone knew about [the exaggerations], that no-one would have approached him? Everybody needs help, they should have approached him.”
