Ford: Cable Anchors Postpone Vacations

By Brian

Katie Couric isn’t coming back from vacation until tomorrow. But many of cable’s heavy hitters are already back. Shep Smith will be anchoring Studio B and The Fox Report for the rest of the week instead of vacationing.

On MSNBC, Chris Matthews was on camera by 8am, hosting an hour of coverage. He’ll be back at 5 and 7. Keith Olbermann and Joe Scarborough are also interrupting their vacations to host their primetime shows.

Wolf Blitzer is still out, so Ed Henry and Suzanne Malveaux are subbing in The Situation Room again today.

According to a tipster, one anchor who isn’t covering Ford is Paula Zahn. “The show will forgo Ford coverage, and continue to beat the racism drum with another one hour special. [EP] Victor Neufeld feels the Ford story doesn’t warrant a break in their plans,” an e-mailer says. So CNN is reairing Zahn’s racism town hall at 8pm…
