When he’s not in the studio, or reporting from around the world, you might find Fox News Channel anchor Bill Hemmer in Sag Harbor, where he has a home. A reporter from The Sag Harbor Express sat down with Hemmer recently to chat about how he got his start in the biz.
An internship with Cincinnati’s WLWT, turned into a sports reporting job. “But by 25 or 26,” while working at another Cincy station, WCPO, Hemmer explains, “I had a midlife crisis and wanted to backpack around the world. Sports had become tedious, so I decided to take a sojourn around the world for a year.” He returned to WCPO, but to the news department. “I worked courts, city hall, and I learned how government works… at night, I was explaining stories to my friends. I was interested and thought they should be too.”
