First Step of the Race

Race for the White House premiered last night at 6pmET on MSNBC. The David Gregory-anchored program featured several familiar faces from MSNBC’s political coverage (call it their own BPTOT.)

Patrick Gavin over at sister-blog FishbowlDC live blogged the program, and apparently wasn’t overly impressed. He writes about the beginning, “The intro to Gregory’s show has him dancing all over the place and dodging red, white and blue graphics. It’s about as natural as Karl Rove‘s MC Rove routine.

“The real question is… ‘What makes this show unique’ and ‘What sets this show apart from MSNBC’s normal programming and, more importantly, its competitors?'” he writes.

There was some early MSNBC-NBC synergy, too. NBC political director Chuck Todd appeared during the beginning of the Gregory show, then raced (pardon the pun) across the studio for NBC Nightly News, then back to the MSNBC show later in the hour.

Apparently all the Racing made panelist Joe Scarborough hungry. Danny Shea at The Huffington Post grabbed the video of Scarborough caught snacking in a quintuple-box.

Also premiering last night was the newly-named Verdict with Dan Abrams at 9pmET. So…what’s the verdict on the two programs? You like?
