February 2015 Ratings: Ahead of Revamp, MSNBC Drops

By Chris Ariens

As MSNBC prepares for a programming revamp next week, the month of February brought another chill to the NBCU channel. The network lost -48% of its primetime demo viewership and -43% of the total day demo, vs. Feb. 2014 when MSNBC gave considerable coverage to Bridgegate. Still, MSNBC finished second (behind Fox News) in primetime total viewers, with a +4% viewer advantage over CNN.

  • Primetime (Mon-Sun): 528,000 total viewers / 120,000 A25-54
  • Total Day (Mon-Sun): 311,000 total viewers / 81,000 A25-54

“Ronan Farrow Daily” and “The Reid Report” were the two least-watched programs in both January and February. Both will produce their final broadcasts this Friday. “Morning Joe,” which is getting a new executive in charge, had its second lowest demo delivery since November 2007, and finished behind CNN’s “New Day” for the 5th straight month.

MSNBC’s total day demo delivery is its lowest since May 2005 and its total viewer delivery is the lowest since December 2007.
