FBN’s Gerri Willis Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

Fox Business Network anchor and personal finance reporter Gerri Willis revealed Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. “My recovery chances are high,” she writes, saying she “fully intends” to make a full recovery.

Willis says decided to speak out about the diagnosis to urge women to be vigilant in screening for breast cancer, as she had undergone a routine mammogram just six months earlier that came back clean.

“My cancer is Stage 2, an early stage. The tumor is such that it will respond to many different therapies. I will likely be just fine,” Willis said. “But I hope and pray that other women will remember despite all the other demands of their lives–the kids, the job, the husband–to regularly examine themselves. There is no substitute.”

Willis will begin treatment next week at New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. “I am lucky enough to have some of the best doctors in the world taking care of me. The first step will be a mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy, and possibly radiation.”
