
Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated is reporting that former ESPN personality Bill Simmons is heading to HBO and has signed a multi-year deal. Deitsch is as reliable as they come in sports media industry and he’s also reporting that Simmons will have a production deal to include digital content and podcasts.
Deitsch says the weekly show will “feature stories and guests from across the sports and cultural landscapes.” The deal reportedly begins in October and allows Simmons to consult with HBO Sports, including the development of shows and documentary films.
“It’s no secret that HBO is the single best place for creative people in the entire media landscape,” Simmons said in a statement to Deitsch.
.@Billsimmons will also have a production deal with HBO to produce content for the net and its digital platforms, including video podcasts.
