“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” wins another week in the evenings with its best total viewer delivery since the week of April 15. “Nightly” has won in total viewers for 263 of the past 264 weeks.
Among younger viewers, “ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer” narrowed its season margin with “Nightly” by -22%. “World News” is posting its smallest news demo margin with the NBC program since the 2008-09 season. The ABC show ranked No. 1 in the demo last Thursday, edging “Nightly” by +3,000 viewers.
Nielsen levels were impacted for the same week last year because of Superstorm Sandy, so a year-over-year comparisons cannot, with certainty, be made. However, when you look at what numbers Nielsen did provide for the week, all three shows are down in total viewers. NBC and CBS are also down in the demo, but “World News” saw a +2% uptick among younger viewers.
