Considering last week saw the presidential election, 2 of 3 evening newscasts didn’t see much — or any — lift. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” improved on its year-ago numbers up +10% in total viewers and up +5% in younger viewers. “World News with Diane Sawyer” was up less than +1% in total viewers and up +7% in the 25-54 demo. “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” which easily maintains first place in the evenings, was down -3% in total viewers and up +2% in younger viewers.
The ratings for CBS are based on four days, excluding Tuesday, Election Day. This was also the first week following the return to Standard Time which generally gives a boost to the evening newscasts.
