On Charles Gibson‘s first week as anchor of World News Tonight, NBC Nightly News was #1 in all categories, beating ABC by almost a million viewers. Gibson debuted on Monday, but those ratings were excluded from all three of the newscasts’ averages due to the Memorial Day holiday.
Tuesday through Thursday, WNT averaged 7.29 million total viewers and a 2.1/9 in the 25-54 demo. Terry Moran anchored on Friday.
Compared to the week before, NBC was up while ABC and CBS were down. For the week of May 29:
Total viewers: NBC: 8,010,000 / ABC: 7,170,000 / CBS: 6,780,000
25-54 rating: NBC: 2.2/9 / ABC: 2.0/8 / CBS: 1.8/7
