Evening News Ratings: Week of March 2

By Chris Ariens

“NBC Nightly News” with Lester Holt continues to hold the lead in the evening news race, but “World News Tonight with David Muir” continues to show the most growth.

Muir’s newscast was up +12% in viewers and up +4% in the demo compared to the same week last year (which is based on reprocessed Nielsen data). “Nightly News” was flat in total viewers and up +1% in the demo, while the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was also flat in viewers and down -13% in the demo.

A further challenge for all three newscasts begins this week with the start of Daylight Saving Time. With longer days and better weather, the evening newscasts typically begin to see a viewership trail off.
